THE BEARS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!, 21 years after their trip to New Orleans, the 2006 Bears beat the New Orleans Saints to earn the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl down in Miami. Pack your bags kids, cause this is one ride you won't want to miss. After getting criticism all year long about not being good enough, not having a good quarterback, the Bears prove everyone wrong, moving on to the big show. We are now 15-3 with Rex Grossman as our quarterback, are playing in the super bowl, and give all the credit in the world to Lovie Smith, a great coach, who stayed by his guns all year long ignoring the critics, and kept plugging away and making his players believe and play better each week, now... THE BEARS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the NFC Championship game, the Bears started slow offensively, and the Siants D played well stopping the Bears in the Red Zone three times early in the game and we had to settle for Robbie 'Good as Gold" Gould field goals to make it 9-0 early in the second quarter. The Bears Defense and Special Teams also showed their teeth early in the game, forcing two fumbles but recovering only one of them. Alas, those two turnovers led to only 3 Bears points as the offense was not able to capitalize early in the game. Thomas Jones got on a torrid run in the second quarter, showcasing a 69 yard drive where he got all 8 straight carries, broke one for 33 yards, and culminated the drive with a nice Touchdown run giving the Bears a 16-0 lead.

That lead got shaved pretty quickly as Brees drove the Saints down the field. Colston made some nice catches when he broke free of Peanut Tillman who generally had good coverage on him for most of the game, and ended up with the score right before half-time. The Bears offense stalled early in the Third quarter, couldn't get much going and went 4 straight 3 and outs. Then early in the quarter Reggie Bush got behind the secondary and Brees hit him for an 88 yard TD run, where the young and Brash Bush taunted the Bears on his way to the end Zone. Ogunleye got in his face and exchanged some words, but couldn't teach young Bush respect through his words, he would have to do it on the field. Brad Maynard provided some great punts, keeping the Saints deep in their own territory. And the Bears capitalized on that when Mark Anderson, Adewale Ogunleye and Hunter Hillenmeyer locked down the pocket form all sides and pressured Brees into an ill advised intentional grounding from the end zone for a safety. They rattled the cages and got the expected result. 2 points and the ball, and more importantly the momentum of the ball game had swung in the Bears favor.

By the fourth quarter, the Bears defense had gotten to the Saints, they broke their will, stuffed the run, had great coverage and pressured Brees, sacked him and forced another fumble. The Offense came thru, with the running game gaining 196 yards for the game, Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson both played well, ran tough and got scores. Even Grossman connected with Berrian on a deep ball and a great circus catch by Bernard. In the end the scoreboard showed 39-14, although the game was much closer than that until midway through the fourth. Give credit to the Bears players and coaching staff. Great game plan, great execution, and that defense is H U N G R Y, so the Colts best look out, cause the Bears are coming to Miami baby, and they are not going to be happy. Oh and we're once again dogs, 7 point dogs today, we'll see where that goes, but it bodes well for the Bears, since they play hungry when being cast down.

Expect the Bears to go to Miami and play tough, the Colts as we all know are a good team and are playing better each week, they showed great poise coming back to beat the Patriots at the end of their game, so we are up against a very good Colts team, it's going to be a battle down in Florida, but hopefully the Bears can come away with a win and bring the Lombardi trophy back to Chicago!

GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
